Kitchens
When designing an accessible kitchen, the needs of the individual clients should be at the centre of the design but understanding the needs of all users is also important. After all, the kitchen is usually the centre of the home and often family life. Any design must therefore reflect the different users’ needs and abilities.
A standard kitchen design uses the basic layout of a triangle, with the fridge, cooker/hob and sink at each corner. However, this principle may have to be ignored when designing with accessibility in mind. Whilst the ultimate aim is safety and functionality, this does not mean you have to sacrifice aesthetics for practicality and end up with an institutional feel.
Lifespan Solutions can supply and fit accessible kitchens manufactured by the UK market leaders. This means we have access to their specialist designers and surveyors. To put their expertise into perspective, on average they will take over 150 more measurements than their high street counterparts.
